Watami Introduces Lunch Sets
We were recently invited by the Watami, a member of the Bistro Group chain of restaurants, to try out their lunch sets. Basically, some of their items were turned into “value meals” or set meals. Each Lunch Set Meal comes with salad and miso soup to complete it.
Here’s the Lunch Set Menu for your reference (click to Magnify):
And I’ll continue on showing you some samples of their lunch set meals and other items in the menu.
Watami – Chicken Cutlet with Scrambled Egg Sauce Lunch Set – PHP 375
It looked very appetizing on the picture so we ordered this one. Well, this one didn’t disappoint as it was tender enough yet flavorful (big thanks to the egg).
Watami Roasted Mackerel Lunch Set – PHP 355
If you are into Japanese roasted fish and have no problems with the serving size, you should try this one. Just be careful with the bones though.
Watami Beef Sukiyaki in Stone Pot Lunch Set – PHP 395
I was expecting this to be more of a soup but instead it was the ingredients of Sukiyaki on top of rice (Sukiyaki Rice Bowl or Sukiyaki-don?). The taste was generally bland thanks to the huge chunks of Tofu but it wasn’t that bad (since I love tofu)… but if you were to try the next dish after this paragraph, then it would pale in comparison.
Watami Black Pepper Beef with Rice in Stone Pot Lunch Set – PHP 275
This was the cheapest among the lunch sets but definitely one of our favorites. It’s been a while since I last ate at Pepper Lunch so I couldn’t compare anymore but I would still say that Watami’s version can stand up to it. It was really delicious… too bad it wasn’t my order.
Watami Salad – PHP 385
Another salad that goes high up to my “favorite salad” list as aside from the usual lettuce, it had broccoli then topped with chicken, nori and a very yummy tuna-mayonnaise sauce. It’s like eating a sandwich minus the bread.
Watami Salmon and Vegetable in Rice Paper – PHP 195
I rarely eat raw but I’ll gladly make an exception for this; fresh spring rolls with raw salmon then dipped in a mayo-like sauce. The vegetables were very crispy and I didn’t even notice that I was eating raw salmon.
Watami Bolognese Pizza – PHP 325
This was my first time seeing soft egg on top of a pizza. What’s more is that you can slice the egg and watch it spread all throughout the pizza (like spreading pizza sauce). Unique presentation yet simple taste.
Again, another filling visit to Watami. It is slowly but surely becoming my favorite restaurant among the restaurants of Bistro Group thanks to delicious food at affordable prices. With all the different items in the menu, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed
Disclosure: Watami paid for our lunch.
