Va Bene Pasta Deli by Quick Delivery PH
May 31, 2011
Let me start my post by saying thank you to QuickDelivery.ph for another opportunity to try out their service (which I can say is very efficient and convenient). This time, it would be Ve Bene Pasta Deli who would make me smile and fill my stomach.
You know the drill; the post will be broken down into three parts.
- The Call
- The Delivery
- The Feast
The Call
I arrived late at the office so I was able to call for my order late also. However, I just want to say that this was the most efficient call I had so far. The agent sounded like he was expecting me because when I said my name, it was like, an auto-complete feature! He answered with my complete name and delivery address. I placed my order and told him that I will be using of the blogger gift certificate. The call ended and I had a smile on my face due to the efficiency of the agent.
The Delivery
I lost track of time because I was busy working so when I got a call that there’s a delivery for me, I was surprised and said to myself, “that was fast”. Glancing at the time, I realized, they were just on time. I got order and went back inside. One thing to note was they used generic plastic bag, plastic containers and utensils. It would have been better if they had branded these as well so that people would know where these came from (though not really a big deal).
The Feast
Now for the feast… I honestly did not know what to order as this was the first time I heard of the restaurant and I only saw a few reviews on the net (hope this post can help others if they would be searching for this restaurant). I just looked at what the other bloggers has ordered, checked the menu for the price, and ordered items that would fit the budget. So here they are!
Va Bene Pasta Deli Prawn Cappellacci in prawn bisque, fresh tomatoes & basil – PHP 380
Cappellacci - Stuffed Pasta
Prawn Bisque – Sauce or soup using prawn shells as the base
That would be the vocabulary lesson for the day.
This is something new to my eyes as this was the first time I saw or heard of “stuffed pasta”. I thought it was a dumpling with prawn inside. In terms of taste, they really taste delicious. You can taste the pasta, the prawns and it is amplified by the “sauce” or prawn bisque which tastes like prawn heads. It is a new combination to me and I really like it. My only complaint would be the price vs. quantity ratio.
Va Bene Pasta Deli Blank Ink Home Made Spaghetti w/ Seafood Marinara – PHP 350.00
I was expecting pasta in black ink sauce but this one is different. The pasta itself is “black” where it seems it was dyed with squid ink prior to cooking. You will also see the following seafood present with your pasta (fish, squid and mussels). This was the first time I saw fish fillet in pasta (different from tuna flakes in other pasta I have tried). The pasta had the texture of spaghetti but I can’t describe much on the taste. I can say that it was delicious because it was gone a few minutes later.
Overall, this experience with the dishes of Va Bene Pasta Deli was great! I was able to try these new dishes which were totally foreign to my tongue and my tongue loved them. The only downside was the serving size with regards to their price.
I would like to thank Va Bene Pasta Deli and QuickDelivery.ph for this opportunity. Thank you very much
Till next time,
Allen
