Tatoy’s is one of our favorite places to eat in Iloilo and whenever we have guests, we always bring them here.

Tatoy’s is known for their lechon manok where they use native chicken (Bisaya) to get that great taste of chicken. They also serve seafood and pork. One of their trademarks is that most of their dishes are colored yellow (I forgot the name of that ingredient that does this).
So anyway, let the feast begin and let me show you what we ordered. These are the usual things we order in Tatoy’s.
Photo Notes: Since I had time to take pictures and they were understanding enough to Stop while I take pictures, I have two sets of photos. One with auto white balance and the other with a Sunny white balance. The first picture will be the automatic one while the second one is where I played with white balance (it turns yellowish).
I did not eat this as I was afraid my stomach will react violently. I really do not want that to open since I still have lots of dishes to eat that are coming.
Tatoy’s Nylon Shell
For soup, we either have this or sometimes we order the sinabawan. My brother likes this very much that he can eat a mountain of Nylon shells and would still ask for more. You would see him looking around other bowls to see if he can get more. As for me, putting the soup on my rice to make it easier to eat is enough for me.
They say that this is a good source of calcium so for those who have calcium problems, eat away!
Yummy! Not really the best lechon you can eat but it is good still. I’m not really picky when it comes to lechon. I only need the skin to be crunchy and the pork meat to be tender (not have this rubbery texture) so that I can chew it easier and not have to remove pork shreds in my teeth afterwards.
Hmm I’m really curious to taste what the Lechon from Cebu tastes like.
Tatoy’s Inihaw Boneless Bangus
I really had to mention Boneless and not just bangus (milkfish) because this is what I’m expecting always when bangus is being served. Sadly, this doesn’t hold true here in Manila where I have to ask first if it is boneless or not. Putting that aside, this is my favorite dish in Tatoys. Others will say it is their chicken but for me, this is heaven. I can still remember when I was young that I would ask my parents to order me one and I will keep eating in small rations to make it last a week!
I would really recommend this! *is drooling while I type*
The pusit (squid) is soft and easy to chew. Having that feature makes it above other squid that I have eaten. Others can make their slices very thin to get that soft texture but Tatoy’s can do it even if their slices are not that thin. It is good but not really my favorite.
This is their specialty and this is what made them famous. When I was still young, I don’t eat this because I thought that native chicken is very hard and is hard to eat. As I grew older, I tried it and I realized due to my silly thoughts before, I missed appreciating this dish for a long time.
It is really tasty and not hard as I thought it would be. Usually when I eat chicken, I always go for the thigh and this chicken thigh is very tasty! The leg part is also very tasty (juicy). This is really worthy of being Tatoy’s top dish!
So that is our meal in Tatoy’s. I believe we missed these dishes.

Well, I’m sure we will return here on my next homecoming to Iloilo so perhaps I can get new pictures again. Also, it is too bad that we did not get to eat at BreakThrough as it is a good competitor for Tatoy’s. Next time, next time!
