Kinabuch Bar and Grill
The second place that I usually see in recommended places to eat in Puerto Princesa was Kinabuch. The name Kinabuch comes from two words, Kina where it means at and Buch is the name of the owner so it would mean at Buch’s (e.g. where do you want to eat? at Buch’s!). Kinabuch is very different from Kalui in terms of look and ambiance. Kinabuch has this big open bar look where you can dine either inside or outside. You will also see a big projector that shows sports. People come here to drink, play billiards, drink and try out the Palawan delicacy, tamilok (wood worm) or crocodile meat. The last was actually the reason why we went to Kinabuch.
I forgot the names of our orders so I’m thankful for this uploaded menu of Kinabuch. Let us start with our orders.
Kinabuch Grill and Bar Smoked Baby Back Ribs – PHP195
For less then PHP200, we got a two big slabs of ribs! It’s like looking at a chicken drumstick, meat version. I liked it! The sauce, tenderness, flavor, it was simply delicious.
Kinabuch Grill and Bar Mixed Seafood with Oyster Sauce – PHP175
Tuna, squid and shrimp in oyster sauce semi-spicy sauce. It was ok not nothing too special but I still liked it.
Tamilok (classic Palawan Recipe) – PHP 115
So here it was, the tamilok and it’s the classic recipe. You may opt to get the breaded version but that won’t be a complete experience. Each piece of the tamilok was long and it’s slimy. However, in terms of taste, it would taste very similar to oysters (since it is part of a family of oysters) so it’s not so bad. You might just get disturbed by the length but it’s like eating multiple oysters.
Sadly, they ran out of crocodile meat so it’s something that we were not able to try at our Palawan trip. With their numerous food offerings, I would gladly eat here a lot if I were to stay for a longer time in Puerto Princesa.
Till next time,
Allen

i love seafood!
then you should love Palawan.. or if I may plug, Iloilo because of the seafood.
The Tamilok looks a bit funny to me, haha. But I’d love to try their baby back ribs; it looks scrumptious!
It does and it takes conditioning one’s self that it’s something to try out. lol
I’d agree with the baby back ribs.
