Foodgasm 2: Take A Second Bite Experience
Foodgasm returns for a second bite and so is me, luckily, been invited again to be a blogger judge.
The venue was still in Mercato Centrale but now they had a bigger place. They occupied the tent and also a part of the market outside the tent. It was more spacious, organized and didn’t feel as hot as the first Foodgasm. Good job on that UP SOC !
Let’s take a bite on the different dishes spread all over the place. (prepare for a long post!)
Baumkuchen – Creamy Cream Cheese by Sweet Baum Café
Baumkuchen is a layered cake that’s popular in Japan and European countries. It looks like a log, gets sawed like a log and has rings like a log but it’s not a log.
Kisses Cupcakes by Sugar Rush
Yummy! A cupcake with lots of choco thorns and topped with kisses (w/ almonds). Ensure you remove the Niggly Wiggly (thin strip of paper) before popping it into your mouth.
Triple Chocolate Fudge Cake by Sweet Confections by Giselle
Bite size chocolaty cup cake. They made a reference to Two Broke Girls but unfortunately, I’m not familiar with that tv series.
Sinantol by Mila C’s
I have tasted their Sinantol during Foodgasm 1 and yet it still managed to amaze me when I tried it again. One of my favorites at Foodgasm. Uragon!
Bacon Wrapped Embutido Cupcake w/ Mashed Potato Topping by Le Kitchenita
Such a long name for this complex dish. One of the great things when joining these events is that you get to try new and unique dishes / combinations that you would have not thought possible. This is one of those “how come I didn’t think of that” moments.
(Ligid) Pork appetizer by PAIRE Foods Inc..
This is the first of their two entries. Ligid is another deep fried pork dish (similar to Crunchy Belly by Carlo’s Kitchen and Bagwang by Manila Q) yet it doesn’t get old. Chicharon with less fat and oil, who wouldn’t want that?
(Class A) Almond pair by PAIRE Foods Inc.
A dish that’s supposed to be eaten together. Eat the almond slice with whipped cream then drink the Amaretto Sour while chewing it. My tongue was lost in words to describe the flavor and all I could muster was… MMMMmmmmmmMMM in acceptance.
Flan de Coco by Ricasa’s Kitchen
Leche Flan Yum! Coconut Macaroons yum! Two yummy ingredients combined into one, what more can I ask?
In fact, you don’t even need to ask as Ricasa’s Kitchen was generous enough to offer us more of their creations such as the Choco Banana Cupcake, Yema Balls and Cookies and Cream Cupcake.
Neapolitan Cheesecake bites by Kuya Boyet’s Cheesecake
“Layers of dark chocolate, plain and strawberry cheesecake on Oreo crust”. Cheesecake that melts in your mouth due to its extreme softness. This is not your usual cheesecake taste and something I need to get used to at first.
Ice Cream by New Zealand Natural Premium Ice Cream
Very flavorful and creamy imported ice cream that you should not miss. They had the following flavors available that night: Macadamia Supreme, Chocolate Ecstasy, Café Espresso and White Chocolate & Raspberry.
Frabelle Mini Pies by Frabelle Foodie Chef
A pie overflowing with chicken and Frabelle products such as hotdog, bacon and ham. This is a meat lovers pie and I love it! I also got to know that they recently won as Frabelle’s Foodie Chef held earlier this year.
They also shared to me another dish. Similar meaty ingredients but with a thicker crust and delicious vegies on top. I just can’t remember the name…
Black Velvet by the Cupcake Dealer
Move over Red Velvet cause the Black Velvet is coming to town! Similar in texture to the red velvet, its the creamy frosting on top that makes it different.
Veggie Dinuguan by Sophia School Café
Another personal favorite of mine! It is the healthier version of dinuguan made with vegies (e.g. Tofu instead of pork was used). Absolutely no pork blood! It tastes as good as the real thing!
Veggie Sisig by Sophia School Cafe
This would be Sophia School Café’s 2nd entry and again, it was another favorite! All the goodness in sisig minus the guilt! If they didn’t tell me nor put a label on it, I would have not known that they did not use pork.
Choco belly by Crunchy Belly by Carlos Kitchen
A veteran food seller with their famous Crunchy Belly. To add something new, chocolate syrup was poured all over. Still crunchy but now chocolaty which in the process, it lost the saltiness in exchange for sweetness.
Milkshake by Lipdip Milkshakes
This was like sipping through a creamy mixture of ice cream and other ingredients such as cookies and chocolate. The only bad thing about it was the sample size (lol I wanted more).
Swirly Roll Ups Petite Joie by Pretentieux, S.A.
Their name maybe challenging to pronounce but their Petite Joie is very easy to appreciate. Sticky and crunchy rice crispies with cookies. If you don’t have diabetes, dig in! It also comes in different colors and ingredients (but rice crispies will always be there).
Lamb Steak Shawarma Plate by Shawarma Bros
Shawarma Bros just took Shawarma to a higher level by using lamb instead of beef. For me, lamb has a distinct taste and that’s very noticeable here. Just chew it well as the lamb wasn’t that tender.
Jamaisian Bacon Wrap by Sisnarp Streetfood Fusion
It looks really good and tastes very good also. It has a hint of spiciness but once you get past that feeling, all that’s left would be bacon and chicken goodness.
Grand Central Cheesesteak by Queens: New York Comfort Food
One of the stalls that had very long lines! Mushroom, beef, and cheese on top of bread. Delicious!
Crispy Fried Oyster Mushroom Fries by Ping Gu Mushroom Fries
Each batch had to be cooked thus it also gained a long looping line but it was definitely worth the wait. Crunchy like chips but much more tasty. You can choose either sweet chili, gravy or ketchup as your dip. Happy to see them already at Cucina Andare (Glorietta 3).
Lola Emma’s Chicken and Lola Cory’s Beef by Granny’s
These granny’s can really whip up some delicious dishes! The flavors were oozing from the secret sauce of the fried chicken and also in beef with sweet and salty sauce. Extra rice please!
Whew! Are you still here? Thank you for reading this long post. I really had fun being a foodie judge for the 2nd time and even just by writing this post.
