ChowKing Chow Pao – Special Chinese Sausage and Chunky Beef

The Chow Pao is the newest offering from Chow King. It is their own version of a sandwich where the bun looks like the dough of sio pao (mantou). If you are familiar with cua pao then you would see a resemblance of it in the Chow Pao.
They have 4 variants available.
- Chinese Sausage – PHP 25
- Chinese Sausage Special – PHP 39
- Chunky Beef – PHP 49
- Braised Chicken – PHP 49
I tried the Chinese Sausage Special and the Chunky Beef.
The difference between the sausage and the special version was the addition of vegies and tofu. It had a sweet sauce similar to sio pao. I liked the taste of their sausage and I would opt for the non-special version in the future.
The Chunky Beef on the other hand was disappointing for me. Not only does it cost more but it was loaded with more vegetables than beef. You would get more meat when you order their siopao. The sauce was similar to their braised beef / oriental beef dishes.
So far, between the two that I have tried, I would recommend the Chinese Sausage because it has more fillings and it is much cheaper (you can buy 2 for the price of 1 chunky beef).
I’ll try the braised chicken soon and update this post.
Till next time,
Allen
